How a Central Vacuum System Works
A Beam central vacuum system uses purpose-built tubing, installed inside your walls, attic, basement, or crawlspaces, to connect a series of wall inlet valves to a central power unit. The unit itself sits away from your living space — usually in a garage, basement, or utility room — so the noise and mess stay out of the rooms you actually spend time in.
To clean, simply plug a lightweight hose into the nearest inlet valve. Each inlet typically covers around 65-75m² of floor space, with most homes needing just one inlet per floor. There’s no heavy canister or upright to drag from room to room — just move from inlet to inlet as you go.
Because the power unit is separate from where you’re cleaning, the system runs far quieter than a portable vacuum. And since dirt, dust, and allergens are carried straight through the tubing to the power unit rather than staying airborne in the room, you get a genuinely cleaner result with every pass.
